A steel manway is one of the basic components of tanks and equipment used in many industries. It provides the ability to perform an inspection of the interior (chamber) of the tank, as well as to conduct operations with the product inside (for example, adding ingredients during production). In addition, steel inspection manways operate very often as a cover for the opening used for cleaning, or for emptying the tank after the process is completed.
Among the steel manways can be distinguished:
- round manways,
- oval manways,
- and rectangular manways.
A group that includes all of the above-mentioned shapes, while characterized by increased pressure resistance parameters, are pressure manways.
The most popular material for making steel manways is stainless steel in the grade AISI 304/304L or AISI 316/316L, which is characterized by increased corrosion resistance.
The variety of dimensions, shapes and technical parameters of steel manways significantly facilitate the selection of the appropriate manway model to meet the requirements of a specific application.
