Stainless steel handways - what are they used for?

A handway (handhole), is a small diameter access hole used for basic inspection of the inside of a tank. Most handways are equipped with a single handwheel and hinged cover - this is of particular importance wherever a short opening time, and thus speed of access to the interior of the device, is essential.

 

Some handways also come in pressure versions, which automatically results in more handwheels installed in the construction.

 

Handways (handholes) are built into filters, tanks, measuring chambers, channels and pipelines. Depending on the needs, handways allow cleaning of equipment, quick process control, or sampling of media.
