Side manways is the conventional name for a category of stainless steel manholes that are installed in the side wall of a tank. This category includes oval manways in many types and varieties, as well as rectangular manways and round manways. Most manways, which are built into the side wall, are placed in its lower part. Thus, the manways are affected by the pressure from the liquid or other medium in the tank. This causes that a large group of manways in this category are pressure manholes.
Stainless steel manways, which are installed in the side wall of the tank, provide one of three options for opening: inward, outward or both options combined. Among oval side manways, there are models that are bent to match the diameter of the tank. As a result, after the manway is welded into the tank's wall, it does not protrude significantly beyond its outline.
