The gasket, located around the edge of the manway cover, forms a hermetic barrier once the clamp coupling is in place and tightened. This makes it impossible for air to enter the sealed tank.
This type of round manways is most often installed in tanks used for transporting liquid food products (for example, in pallet tanks). However, nothing prevents the use of round clamp manways in other applications as well. Nevertheless, the operating environment should be carefully analyzed each time for the resistance of the materials used in the manway's construction.
