Manways with large diameter opening - general information

The large-diameter manway group includes circular manway models in the size range from DN701. The largest circular manway models are characterized by diameters of DN1200, DN1400 or even DN1500. Large diameter circular manways are manufactured in AISI 304/304L steel as standard, or in AISI 316/316L steel as an option.

 

The standard type of closure for large-diameter manways are handwheels. With such large designs, there is usually a need for more closure-points to ensure that the cover is sufficiently tight. Among manways with large opening, there are both versions with hinged covers and completely removable covers.

 

Alternatively to the closure with handwheels, a clamp-closure can be used (this type of solution allows the structure to remain tight around the manway's edge).

 

Large-diameter manways are typically used as a technical access point to a tank chamber or process equipment. The wide opening allows a technician with tooling to get inside freely, which is especially appreciated in installations that require frequent maintenance.
