Round manways with glass cover - essential information

The manway with a glass cover is installed in the roof of the stainless steel tank. The see-through cover provides the possibility of constant visual inspection of the processes taking place inside the device, thus reducing the frequency of opening the cover. Manways of this type are most commonly found in breweries and distilleries.

A see-through round manway cover usually consists of two stainless steel rims, between which a glass sheet is placed. The glass is secured with a silicone gasket. Stainless steel in grades AISI 304/304L or AISI 316/316L, as well as tempered glass, are used for covers. This type of glass performs well at temperatures up to +120°C.

One more silicone gasket (standard material) of O-ring type is placed in the manway frame. As a result, when the cover is placed and pressed down with handwheels arranged around the perimeter, a tight and secure closure of the manway is achieved.
